One Dance for Wellness

Theresians danced their hearts out last September 27 and 29 during the Pakiglambigit 2012 with STC Campus Fit.

The Information Campaign/Corpcom 11 class of Mme. Lilu Alino organized a health and fitness campaign through exercise called “Campus Fit” with the theme: “Move for wellness and thrive for wholesome relationships.”
The theme conveys a message of flocking the students, faculty and staff, and school administration and encouraging them to move and exercise together for a healthier mind and body.

“Part of the information campaign class requirement is the actual planning and implementation of an identified problem or issue. This gives the students a chance to apply concepts and hone their skills in planning and execution, creative and production based on a real situation. In the process they reinforce values of unity, cooperation, hard work, determination, and resourcefulness. They identify strengths and weaknesses and be able to evaluate their work,” Mme. Alino said.

“Campus Fit not only served as a starting point for a healthier lifestyle for the whole institution, but it also paved the way to a more united Theresian community. Seeing my fellow Theresians dance and have fun together gives me more reasons to miss my alma mater once I graduate from college,” Deneb Batucan, one of the organizers of the campaign said.

Zumba, a Latin-inspired dance fitness work-out, is a fun, upbeat and popular exercise routine that was featured during the Campus Fit Opening last September 12, 2012 at the auditorium along with the College students.

Mme. Lita Quisumbing, a famous dance instructor for Hiphop, Jazz, Yoga and Zumba in Las Vegas and Cebu, was hired to teach and bust some unique dance moves with the students. She is also an alumna of STC.

When asked about the first time she taught Zumba in STC she answered: “I enjoyed every minute. The students’ energy and enthusiasm inspired me to give my all!”
Aside from the warm welcome of Zumba by the College department, Campus Fit also made its way to the Intramurals. The information campaign class held a one hour Zumba session at the sunken court on day one of Pakiglambigit 2012. Staff members, guests and students from the three departments gathered at the venue to dance with Mme. Quisumbing.

The fun didn’t stop on the last day of Pakiglambigit 2012 as high school and College students, and members of the faculty jived to the modern tunes as they followed Mme. Quisumbing and Veronica Enriquez with her daughter Rebecca Enriquez who both work at Holiday Gym Spa.

“The rain added to the fun,” said Jessica Anne Rubio, a 2nd year high school student.

The campaign was sponsored by Get Fit restaurant, STC and Globe Telecom. The last Zumba session was topped off by a raffle of globe tattoo broadbands.
