Theresian Communicators Win in Campus Patrol 2012

The third year Mass Communication students of Saint Theresa’s College waved the Theresian flag when they won two out of three awards during ABS-CBN’s Campus Patrol held last August 24, 2012 at the Samuel McClintock Hall, Cebu Normal University.

The Theresian Communicators’ Organization (TCO) news team garnered the two major awards, namely News Anchor of the Year and News Coverage of the Year.

Proponents of the STC news team were Beatrice Claudine Evardone (over-all director), Jayneil Louise Enriquez (technical director), Donna Francine Lavares (news anchor), Malaya Macaraeg (field reporter), Fresha Anne Endico (reporter), Rose Angelie Ursabia (reporter), Jinky Garidos (sports reporter), and Justine Espina (Star Patroller) with their coach, Mme. Malou Inocando-Tabar.

“We just had to practice, practice, practice; be open to criticisms and changes; and have the strong desire to win,” said Lavares, Campus Patrol 2012 News Anchor of the Year.

Cebu Normal University (CNU) won the News Reporter of the Year for their Investigative Journalism, for the third consecutive year.

The other participating colleges of the said contest were University of San Jose-Recolletos (USJ-R), University of the Philippines (UP), Cebu Institute of Technology University (CIT-U), University of the Visayas (UV), Southwestern University (SWU), and Cebu Technological University (CTU).

Campus Patrol, now on its seventh year, is one of the year-long activities initiated by ABS-CBN Regional Network, in partnership with the Cebu Alliance of Mass Communication Students (CAMS) for the 25th Anniversary of TV Patrol Central Visayas in the year 2013.
